Network maintenance on Sunday Dec 27

We will be conducting network maintenance on Sunday, December 27 from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM. The work to be done includes installation of a new router and new switches, and upgrading the Cisco IOS software on some of our existing routers and switches.

The majority of the work should have little or no noticeable impact on service. However, some servers will experience approximately one minute of service interruption as switches are rebooted.

The work, once completed, will increase the bandwidth capacity and the level of redundancy in our network. Additionally, all unmanaged dedicated servers currently on 10 Mbps ports will be upgraded to 100 Mbps ports.

Upcoming PHP upgrade on Windows servers

We will be updating PHP to version 5.2.3 on all Windows shared servers on July 28 and 29.

The vast majority of PHP scripts will continue to work unmodified on the new PHP version. However, in a small number of very specific cases, changes to PHP code may be required. If you are using a pre-written PHP web application and are concerned about potential compatibility issues, we recommend that you ensure you are running a recent version of your application.

PHP programmers should consult the following website for information on migrating code from PHP 5.0.x to 5.2.x: http://ca.php.net/UPDATE_5_2.txt
