Using e-mail accounts
An e-mail account is an e-mail address that collects and stores incoming mail
on the Korax mail server. You use e-mail software such as Microsoft
Outlook, or Korax WebMail, to retrieve the mail from the account.
Creating e-mail accounts
E-mail accounts are created using AMS Control Panel. For step-by-step
instructions, read
Creating e-mail accounts.
Retrieving mail from e-mail accounts
To retrieve your mail from an e-mail account, you can use any e-mail software, such
as Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express, or you can use Korax WebMail, the web-based e-mail application
that lets you read your e-mail from any computer using a web browser. Refer to
Setting up Outlook and other software and
How to use WebMail for step-by-step instructions on
using either of these methods.
E-mail account limits
You can create as many e-mail accounts as allowed by the web hosting package you've purchased.
It's recommended that you create only one e-mail account for each person in your organization
who requires it, and use
e-mail forwarders to redirect multiple
e-mail addresses to this person. For example, create
mike@example.com as an e-mail
account, and, if Mike also handles general inquiries and sales, create
info@example.com
and
sales@example.com as e-mail forwarders, and forward both to
mike@example.com.
Refer to the
package details at
the Korax website for information on how many e-mail accounts you can create.
There is no limit on the number of e-mail forwarders.
Removing e-mail from the server
Each e-mail account has a storage capacity of 100 MB. If the storage limit is reached,
the account cannot accept new mail; instead, new incoming messages are returned to the sender
with an error message saying "mailbox full".
To prevent your e-mail account from becoming full, make sure that your e-mail software is configured to delete mail from the server
after downloading. If you use WebMail, make sure to periodically clean up the account by deleting old messages
from your Inbox, from any folders you've created, and from the Sent folder. The Sent folder automatically stores
a copy of every e-mail you send, including attachments, so it can quickly consume a lot of storage space.
You will receive a warning e-mail if your account is nearing capacity.
You can monitor your e-mail account space usage in Control Panel, or when using WebMail.
