Using e-mail forwarders
An e-mail forwarder is an e-mail address that redirects incoming
mail to another destination.
E-mail forwarders redirect incoming mail
An e-mail forwarder redirects incoming e-mail to another destination address. The destination can be
any valid e-mail address, such as a Hotmail account, your account at your Internet
service provider, or another e-mail address at your domain. A forwarder can forward mail
to multiple destinations; this can be used, for example, to send a copy of every e-mail to
your Blackberry or other mobile device.
Forwarders are an easy and convenient way to set up e-mail addresses at your domain name
and receive the mail via any third-party e-mail provider that you may already be using.
For example, if you host the web site
www.example.com, you can have e-mail
addresses such as
info@example.com,
sales@example.com,
mike@example.com, or any other address that you might need. Each of these
forwarders can forward the mail to any destination of your choice.
You can create an unlimited number of e-mail forwarders at your domain name.
Creating e-mail forwarders
E-mail forwarders are created using AMS Control Panel. For step-by-step
instructions, read
Creating e-mail forwarders.
Using your forwarder address
If you want to use your forwarder e-mail address as the From: address when you compose
and reply to e-mail, you'll need to set up your e-mail software
to use it as the sender address.
In Outlook and Outlook Express, enter the e-mail forwarder you created, such as
info@example.com, into the "E-mail address" field of the account
properties window. Refer to
Setting up Outlook and other software
for complete steps. In some e-mail applications, you can also set up multiple identities
which allow you to select the sender address.
In Korax WebMail, enter the e-mail forwarder you created in the "E-mail Address" field
of the "Options - Personal Information" screen. Refer to
How to use WebMail for complete steps.
In Hotmail, you can set the "Reply to" address to your e-mail forwarder. Under the Options
screen, click "Mail", then "Message Replies". Under the "Reply-To Address" item, select
"Identify the address below as the reply-to address", and enter the forwarder in
the text field. Click OK to save.
