Setting up Outlook 2007
These steps show the correct settings for Microsoft Outlook 2007
to retrieve mail from Korax e-mail accounts.
Follow these steps
- Create an e-mail account using Control Panel. The e-mail account will store your incoming mail. Make a note of the e-mail account password provided to you when you create the account.
-
Start Outlook 2007, and click the "Tools" menu item. Select "Account Settings".
The "Account Settings" window appears.
-
Click the "New..." button. The "Add New E-mail Account" window appears.
For E-mail Service, select "Microsoft Exchange, POP3, IMAP, or HTTP", and
click "Next".
-
Check the box in the lower left corner labelled "Manually configure server settings
or additional server types", then click "Next".
-
For E-mail Service, select "Internet E-mail", and click "Next".
-
In the "Internet E-mail Settings" screen, enter your e-mail account
details as follows.
- Your Name: Enter your name as you would like it to appear in the "From" field of the e-mail messages you send.
- E-mail Address: Enter the e-mail address of the account you created in step one.
- Incoming mail server: Enter your domain name preceded by "mail.", such as mail.example.com.
- Outgoing mail server (SMTP): Enter your Internet service provider's outgoing (SMTP) mail server name, or, if you prefer to use Korax' mail server for outgoing mail, enter your domain name preceded by "mail.", such as mail.example.com.
- User Name: Enter the e-mail address of the account you created in step one.
- Password: Enter the e-mail account password that was given to you when you created the e-mail account. Check "Remember password" if you don't want to be prompted to enter your password each time you check for new mail.
- Click the "More Settings..." button. The "Internet E-mail Settings" window appears.
- Click the "Outgoing Server" tab.
-
Check the box labeled "My outgoing (SMTP) server requires authentication".
- Click the "Advanced" tab.
- Under "Server Port Numbers", in the field labeled "Outgoing Server (SMTP)",
type the number 587.
- Optional, but recommended: To protect the privacy of your email account username,
password, and email messages as they travel over the Internet between your computer and the mail server,
we strongly recommend enabling SSL encryption as follows:
- Check the box marked "This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)".
- Change "Incoming server (POP3)" to port 995.
- Set "Use the following type of encrypted connection" to SSL.
- Change "Outgoing server (SMTP)" to port 465.
- Click "OK" to return to the "E-mail Accounts" window and continue below.
-
Click "Next", then on the final screen, click "Finish" to save your
new e-mail account.
