Editing your new e-mail account to use Korax' outgoing mail server

If you want to use Korax' outgoing mail server, instead of your ISP's mail server, you will need to perform the following additional steps.
  1. In the "Internet Accounts" window, select the account you just created, and click the "Properties" button. The "Properties" window appears.
  2. Click the "Servers" tab.
  3. Check the box labeled "My server requires authentication". Internet accounts properties
  4. Click the "Advanced" tab.
  5. Under "Server Port Numbers", in the field labeled "Outgoing mail (SMTP)", type the number 587. Internet accounts properties
  6. Optional, but recommended: To protect the privacy of your email account username, password, and email messages as they travel over the Internet between your computer and the mail server, we strongly recommend enabling SSL encryption as follows:
    1. Check both boxes marked "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)".
    2. Change "Outgoing mail (SMTP)" to port 465.
    3. Change "Incoming mail (POP3)" to port 995.

Note: if your email software displays a certificate name mismatch warning when you connect, click the Servers tab and change the incoming and outgoing server names to mail.korax.net.

  7. Click "OK".
