Microsoft FrontPage issues
Occassionally, you may find that your updates don't appear as you expect them to when
using Microsoft FrontPage, or counters, message boards, or other Web components
stop functioning.
Recalculating your Web
The most common reason for problems with your website when you publish with FrontPage
is a mismatch, or asynchronization, between the local copy of the site stored on your
computer, and the copy on the server as managed by the FrontPage server extensions.
You can sometimes solve such problems by performing a "recalculation" on your website.
To perform a recalculation of your local copy of the site using the FrontPage software, click the
Tools
menu item, then select
Recalculate Hyperlinks.... After recalculating, publish your site to the server.
You can also perform a recalculation of the server copy of the site using AMS Control Panel. Read
Manage FrontPage extensions for more information.
Do not use FTP to make changes to your FrontPage website. Use only the FrontPage software to make changes.
Using FTP will cause damage to your FrontPage data files which may be difficult to repair, and may require
deleting and republishing the entire site.
